In excess of 36,000 people have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan territory east of Darfur starting Saturday, as reported by the UN's immigration body.

The important central zone separating the country's Darfur provinces and the capital region has over recent weeks become the latest battleground in the two-year civil war between the Sudanese military forces and the militia group.

Substantial Displacement Statistics

An approximated 36,825 people evacuated from five areas in North Kordofan province between 26 October and 31 October, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The individuals, most on foot, traveled to Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering in excess of 652,000 evacuated individuals.

Heightened Forces Deployment

Residents of North Kordofan on Monday described a substantial rise in both RSF and army deployment across towns and villages throughout the state.

Both armed factions are vying for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan regional capital and a important strategic and command center that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have gathered at the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently distributed video message.

Local Inhabitants Report Protection Issues

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the amount of RSF vehicles had risen substantially since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, concerned about clashes," the local stated.

Another inhabitant, who requested anonymity for security reasons, also indicated that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

Global Concerns and Appeals

A senior UN official sounded warnings last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The official warned of patterns echoing those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The spiritual head on Sunday appealed for an immediate ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and obstacles to humanitarian aid "are producing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's official envoy to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of perpetrating war crimes in El Fasher and announced that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the armed faction.

The representative further encouraged the world nations to designate the group as a terrorist organisation.
