Each have been linked with the coaching position at the Scottish champions following Brendan Rodgers' resignation on the start of the week. The Manager's Position on Celtic McKenna described the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town. The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in England's second tier. "There have been such conversations," the English capital native ex- Irish young player said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist. "This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is this week. "I have a unique job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Everything external hasn't touched my radar." Background and Agreement Details It has been suggested that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support. "During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about these. "I don't think everyone has to publicly and declare what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club." The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was asked about his alleged buyout clause. "In every manager's contract, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway! "I tackle this role like I'll be Town's coach forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I am here." The Welsh Coach's Situation The former striker represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh forward is inclined to complete the ongoing global tournament qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position. The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and second-placed Macedonia. Wins over Liechtenstein and their rivals in November would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a productive European competition performance, should they fail to finish as Group J runners-up. Given his current stance, the Wales manager, whose agreement concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the minimum.
